Schools that may close or change

The district’s Redefining Our Schools plan, driven by falling enrollment, names two Coral Springs schools, according to the city’s Redefining Our Schools page:

  • Coral Springs Elementary. The original proposal would close it and split students between Eagle Ridge and Parkside elementaries. An alternative would move all students together to Parkside.
  • Forest Glen Middle. The original proposal would repurpose it, keep sixth graders at Coral Park, Forest Hills, James S. Hunt and Park Springs elementaries, and move seventh and eighth graders to Coral Springs High as a grades 7-12 school. Alternatives are a performing arts and music magnet at Forest Glen, given about three years to build enrollment, or closing it and sending students to Coral Springs, Lyons Creek and Ramblewood middle schools, which could change some boundaries.

The School Board reviewed community feedback Tuesday, Oct. 6, and made no decision. Next:

Date Step
Wednesday, Nov. 4 School Board workshop: final list of schools and proposed changes
Thursday, Nov. 5 Superintendent’s final recommendations
Tuesday, Dec. 15 School Board final vote
Wednesday, Dec. 16 Affected families notified
Friday, Jan. 15, 2027 School choice application window closes

Any change would take effect in the 2027-28 school year. Comments go to schoolboard@browardschools.com; meetings stream on the district’s site.
