Coral Springs allows leashed dogs only in neighborhood parks. The Sportsplex dog park, nearby dog parks in Parkland and Coconut Creek, and dog-friendly events.

Coral Springs is stricter about dogs than many South Florida cities. Leashed dogs are welcome in the city’s small neighborhood parks, but not in its big community parks, and the only off-leash space the city runs is the dog park on Sportsplex Drive. Here is where you can go, and the rules that apply.

  • Lost or found pet (police Humane Unit): 954-346-4422
  • Police non-emergency: 954-344-1800

The leash rule

The city’s rules for dogs come from Sections 4-7 and 16.2 of the City Code, which the dog park page cites; the full text is in the Coral Springs Code of Ordinances. In practice:

  • Neighborhood parks: leashed dogs allowed. Kiwanis Park, 520 Ramblewood Drive, is one; the parks directory lists the rest under “Neighborhood Park.”
  • Community parks: no dogs. That includes the Sportsplex, Mullins, Cypress, Cypress Hammock, Riverside, Forest Hills and Betti Stradling parks, the city says.
  • Clean up every time, everywhere.
  • Pools and splash pads: no animals. The Splash-N-Play and Cypress Water Park both ban them.

Dog-friendly events and places

The city marks several of its downtown events as dog-friendly, with dogs on a leash and owners cleaning up after them:

At the Coral Springs Museum of Art gallery, only leashed service dogs are allowed inside, and staff ask to be told about companion pets, according to its visitor page.

Restaurant patios. Some Coral Springs restaurants seat dogs at outdoor tables. Policies change and are up to each restaurant, so ask when you arrive or call ahead. If your restaurant welcomes dogs on its patio and says so on its own website, tell us and we will list it here.

What this means for you

  • Leash on, and stick to neighborhood parks; the big parks are off limits to dogs.
  • For off-leash play, the Sportsplex dog park is free but its large-dog side is closed for now; Barkland in Parkland is the closest alternative.
  • Keep your dog’s Broward County license current; the dog park checks for it.
