The proposal to repurpose Forest Glen
Under the district’s 2026-27 Redefining Our Schools proposals, Forest Glen would be repurposed: Coral Park, Forest Hills, James S. Hunt and Park Springs elementaries would add grade 6, and Coral Springs High would extend to grades 7-12. The School Board’s Oct. 6 workshop presentation lists three options:
- Continue with that original proposal.
- Consolidate Forest Glen into neighboring middle schools with room to spare: Coral Springs, Lyons Creek and Ramblewood.
- A performing arts program at Forest Glen to attract students, which families asked for.
The same presentation puts the original proposal’s net savings at $1,203,000 a year and records community concern about putting middle school students on a high school campus. It counts 1,295 students living in the Forest Glen zone, of whom 576 (44.5%) attend Forest Glen and 511 (39.5%) attend charter schools.
Nothing has been decided. The superintendent’s final recommendations are due Thursday, Nov. 5; the School Board’s final vote is set for Tuesday, Dec. 15, and affected families would be notified Dec. 16. Any change would apply to the 2027-28 school year. Our Coral Springs schools guide follows the process.
Enrollment and teachers
- District count: 733 students on Aug. 21, 2026, the 10th day of the 2026-27 school year, 208 fewer than on the same day in 2025, according to the district’s Tenth Day Enrollment Count.
- Building use: the district’s Redefining Our Schools 2026-27 data report (PDF) counts 742 students in a building with permanent space for 1,627, or 45.6% full.
- Federal count: 1,020 students in the 2023-24 school year, with 53 full-time-equivalent teachers, according to the NCES directory. That works out to about 19 students per teacher.
State report card
Florida grades every public school A to F. A school’s grade is the share of possible points it earns on state test results, learning gains in English and math, and, for middle schools, a middle school acceleration measure. The state’s 2026 file sets an A for a middle school at 64% of points or more.
| School year | Grade |
|---|---|
| 2025-26 | A (64% of possible points) |
| 2024-25 | B |
| 2023-24 | B |
From the state’s 2026 school grades file, the share of students scoring on grade level on the state tests in 2025-26:
- English language arts: 58%
- Math: 65%
- Science: 64%
- Social studies: 74%
