The proposal to close Coral Springs Elementary
The district’s 2026-27 Redefining Our Schools proposals would move Coral Springs Elementary’s students into Eagle Ridge and Parkside elementaries. The School Board’s Oct. 6 workshop presentation lists two options: continue with that proposal, or consolidate the school into Parkside Elementary alone.
The presentation puts the net savings at $746,000 a year. It counts 624 children living in the Coral Springs Elementary zone, of whom 210 (33.7%) attend the school, 176 (28.2%) attend charter schools and 238 attend other district schools. Under the proposal, pre-K students with disabilities could be placed at Eagle Ridge, Maplewood or Westchester elementaries.
Nothing has been decided. The superintendent’s final recommendations are due Thursday, Nov. 5; the School Board’s final vote is set for Tuesday, Dec. 15, and affected families would be notified Dec. 16. Any change would apply to the 2027-28 school year. Our Coral Springs schools guide follows the process.

- Building use: the district’s Redefining Our Schools 2026-27 data report (PDF) counts 297 students in a building with permanent space for 871, or 34.1% full.

| 2024-25 | B |
| 2023-24 | C |

- English language arts: 67%
- Math: 70%
- Science: 47%
- Third graders in English language arts: 79%
