Coastal Waste & Recycling has collected garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk trash for the city of Coral Springs since Oct. 1, 2024, when it replaced Waste Pro. The green cart (garbage) is picked up twice a week; the blue cart (recycling) and bulk are picked up once a week. Carts must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

What day is my pickup?
Pickup days depend on where you live. The city’s Garbage Map and Schedule page has the route map that shows your garbage, recycling and bulk days. Coastal’s support site has an interactive map and the residential collection schedule, and takes service tickets.
The city’s rules for setting out carts:
- Put carts within 5 feet of the curb by 7 a.m., with the lid opening toward the street.
- Bring them back from the curb by 7 p.m. after pickup, the city’s Coastal FAQ says.
- Leave 3 feet of clear space on all sides. Keep carts away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, cars and the sidewalk.
- Nothing may stick out above the rim, and lids must close.
- Blue carts with visible plastic bags are not picked up. The blue cart is for clean recycling only.
Holiday schedule
Coastal does not collect on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. If one of your collection days falls on either holiday, your garbage, recycling or bulk is picked up on your next scheduled pickup day, the city says. Every other holiday runs on the normal schedule.
| Holiday | Date | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Thursday, Nov. 26 | No collection; Thursday items go out on your next scheduled day |
| Christmas | Friday, Dec. 25 | No collection; Friday items go out on your next scheduled day |
The dates in the table apply the city’s rule to the 2026 calendar. The Holiday Waste Information page covers Christmas trees: strip off ornaments, lights and tinsel and put the tree out with your bulk, or drop it at the Waste Transfer Station on a Saturday or Sunday. Ornaments, tinsel, tree lights and shredded wrapping paper go in the green cart, not the blue one.
Bulk trash and yard waste
Bulk pickup is weekly for single-family homes only; condo and apartment residents should check with their homeowners association. According to the city’s bulk trash page:
- Put bulk within 5 feet of the street no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before and no later than 7 a.m. on your bulk day.
- The limit is 6 cubic yards a week, about the size of six kitchen stoves or three refrigerators. Only 2 cubic yards of that may be construction debris. A larger pile is tagged with haul-away instructions and left.
- Accepted: couches, chairs, mattresses, tables, appliances, carpet and padding. Remove the doors and the Freon from refrigerators and freezers, with notice of the Freon removal visible. Box or wrap mirrors and glass.
- Yard waste: tree trimmings, palm fronds, branches and brush, no piece longer than 5 feet or heavier than 50 pounds. Bag small lawn clippings in a clear bag.
- Not accepted: extra garbage bags and hazardous waste. Keep piles out from under trees and power lines.
Tell landscapers, tree trimmers and contractors to haul away their own debris if it would go over the limit.
Waste Transfer Station
Residents can drop off bulk, yard waste, recycling and food scraps free at the Waste Transfer Station, 12600 Wiles Road, with a valid ID and proof of address.
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Saturday | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
| Sunday | noon to 5 p.m. |
The station takes household goods, yard waste, flattened cardboard, up to two tires per household, up to 2 cubic yards a day of home construction debris and recyclables, with a 6-cubic-yard limit on bulk and yard waste. It does not take chemicals, liquids, batteries, electronics, fluorescent bulbs, non-latex paint, raw garbage or commercial waste. Commercial vehicles, including moving and landscape trucks, are turned away, and each household may visit once a day.
The city’s free food scrap composting program uses the same site: up to 5 gallons of unbagged food scraps per household a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, with finished compost handed out twice a year.
Hazardous waste
Paint, pool chemicals, motor oil, propane tanks, electronics and similar items go to special one-day collection events that Coral Springs shares with Coconut Creek, Tamarac, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, North Lauderdale, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Lauderdale Lakes. The most recent was Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Westside Complex, 4181 NW 121st Ave. Upcoming dates are posted on the city’s HHW Special Collection Days page. Ammunition, fireworks, needles, tires and medication are not accepted at those events.
Carts
Coastal delivered a 95-gallon green cart and a 65-gallon blue cart to every home in 2024. One free size change per cart is allowed; a second cart costs $65 from Coastal, according to the city’s FAQ. If a cart is stolen, file a report with the Coral Springs Police Department and give Coastal a copy when you ask for a replacement.
