Report an outage
FPL takes outage reports by phone at 1-800-4OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243) and online through its Web Outage Reporting System. Have your address or FPL account number ready. Stay away from any downed line and assume it is live.
Check the outage map
FPL’s Power Tracker is an interactive map of every current outage in FPL’s territory. Type an address, city or ZIP code (Coral Springs uses 33065, 33067, 33071 and 33076) to see, for each outage, according to FPL’s map FAQ:
- When it was reported
- The estimated time of restoration
- How many customers are affected
- Its status and cause
The map does not show flickers or brief interruptions. If your outage is not on the map, report it. With the power out, open the map on a phone or a charged laptop.
Streetlights and traffic signals
The city’s Public Works page splits the job:
| Problem | Who fixes it | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Streetlight out in a neighborhood | FPL | 954-797-5000 (have the 10-digit number from the pole) |
| Streetlight out on a major road | City Public Works | 954-345-2210 |
| Traffic signal out | Report to Coral Springs police | 954-344-1800 |
FPL also takes streetlight reports through its streetlight page or at 1-800-4OUTAGE.
After a hurricane
FPL’s published restoration order, from its map FAQ:
- Power plants, transmission lines and substations.
- At the same time, lines serving critical facilities: hospitals, police and fire stations, water treatment plants and 911 centers.
- Also at the same time, the most customers in the shortest time, including main roads with supermarkets, pharmacies and gas stations.
- Then the smaller lines serving neighborhoods, ending with the hardest-hit areas.
After a major storm, FPL says it gives a first systemwide restoration estimate as soon as practical, updates it within 24 hours, gives county-level estimates within 48 hours and sub-county estimates within 72 to 96 hours. See our hurricane prep guide for getting ready.
Generators and safety
- Run a portable generator outdoors only, away from doors and windows, and never in a garage. Carbon monoxide can kill.
- Do not plug a generator into a house outlet; it can send power back up the line toward crews.
- Portable generators up to 10,000 running watts and carbon monoxide alarms are tax-free in Florida all year.
- Check our hurricane guide for how much food and water to keep at home.
